On September 13, the TreasureDAO development team announced a significant proposal to transition their gaming ecosystem from Arbitrum’s Layer 2 network to ZKSync. The shift is seen as a strategic move aimed at better aligning with TreasureDAO’s long-term vision for its decentralized gaming ecosystem.
If approved, the testnet for TreasureDAO will move from Arbitrum Orbit to ZKSync’s ZK Stack (Elastic Chain), with plans to launch the mainnet by November. While the team will not participate in the governance vote, the decision will rest entirely in the hands of the community. The discussion phase of the vote runs until September 18, when official voting is expected to begin.
TreasureDAO, a leading gaming platform on Arbitrum, is well-known for titles such as The Beacon, Kuroro Beast, and Synergy Land. The proposal to shift networks surprised many in the crypto community, especially after Arbitrum’s 2024 allocation of 225 million ARB tokens ($117 million) to incentivize game development on its platform.
Despite the potential shift, related tokens such as ARB (Arbitrum), MAGIC (TreasureDAO), and ZK (ZKSync) have shown limited market response. ARB is trading at $0.5193, down 0.32% in the past 24 hours, while ZK is up 2.81% and MAGIC has risen by almost 3%.
Since the beginning of 2024, ARB has been among the worst-performing tokens in the top 100 by market cap, with a 67% decline. Other Layer 2 tokens, including POL and OP, have also faced sharp declines this year.
The decision represents a pivotal moment for TreasureDAO as it seeks to broaden its ecosystem and drive mass adoption.
