Chris Larsen, co-founder and Executive Chairman of Ripple, has donated an additional $10 million in XRP to support Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign for the 2024 U.S. election.

This donation was made to Future Forward, a Democratic Political Action Committee (PAC), to bolster Harris’ campaign as she faces off against former President Donald Trump next month.

Larsen confirmed this in a post on the social media platform X on October 21. He expressed that the Democratic Party needs a fresh approach to technological innovation, including cryptocurrencies, and he believes that Kamala Harris will help the U.S. lead globally in this sector. This donation follows just under 10 days after Larsen contributed $1 million in XRP to the same PAC.

According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, Larsen has previously donated a total of over $11 million to organizations related to Harris’ campaign, making him one of the largest supporters from the cryptocurrency industry. He was also one of the earliest leaders in the crypto space to publicly back Harris, while many other industry leaders have supported Donald Trump.

The Super PAC Fairshake, backed by Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), has raised over $200 million to support pro-crypto policies, making it one of the largest funding sources for the 2024 election.

Meanwhile, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has also affirmed that the company will continue to engage with both parties to promote policies that support blockchain and cryptocurrency. Garlinghouse had previously donated $50,000 to a Republican Super PAC aimed at countering anti-crypto politicians, particularly Senator Elizabeth Warren.

The cryptocurrency industry is participating in the election like never before, with hundreds of millions of dollars being donated by industry leaders and organizations to back presidential candidates.
