On September 10, the TON Community shared impressive statistics from the recent airdrop of Dogs (DOGS), which occurred on August 26. This event marked the largest Token Generation Event (TGE) in the world of memecoins.
Here are the key figures shared by the TON Community:
- The Dogs mini-app has attracted 53 million users, with 42.2 million eligible to receive the airdropped tokens, making it the largest event of its kind.
- 17 million people have requested to claim their DOGS tokens.
- There are currently 4.5 million unique wallet addresses holding DOGS on the TON network.
Although there is a significant number of wallet addresses, DOGS still lags behind leading cryptocurrencies like Ethereum (ETH), which has over 273 million wallet addresses, according to data from Ycharts.
The DOGS token launch has piqued widespread interest within the crypto community, leading to two brief outages on the TON network due to the surge in users claiming their tokens. The network achieved a new peak in daily active addresses, surpassing 950,000 as of September 9, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous week.
Looking ahead, the TON Community is expecting two more major airdrop events from the games Tap to Earn Hamster Kombat and Catizen, both scheduled for this September. Justin Huyn, Chief Investment Officer at TON Foundation, likened the success of Telegram Mini Apps to a “Trojan horse” in the mass adoption of blockchain.
Hamster Kombat, in particular, has announced the launch of its HMSTR token on September 26. Several major exchanges, including OKX and Bybit, have confirmed they will list the token, while the community eagerly awaits a potential listing on Binance. The Hamster Kombat team has boldly stated that the HMSTR Airdrop will be the largest in crypto history, having attracted over 300 million players in less than six months. To achieve this, the market capitalization of HMSTR at the time of TGE would need to surpass the $6.43 billion record set by Uniswap (UNI).
