During the ApeFest event taking place in Hong Kong on November 4, many attendees reported experiencing vision damage, some even experiencing “extreme pain”. The reason is said to be that Yuga Labs used an inappropriate light source for the NFT ApeFest event.
On X, Crypto June, an attendee shared as soon as the event ended: “Woke up in the middle of the night after burning out at ApeFest with sore eyes, I even had to be hospitalized.”
This person also added: “The doctor said the cause may be UV rays from stage lights. I am a fan of famous festivals but have never encountered this phenomenon. Obviously, the light source used by Yuga Labs is not safe for audiences.”
Another ApeFest guest with the nickname Feld I woke up at 3 a.m. in extreme pain and had to go to the emergency room immediately.”
A different guest at ApeFest with the nickname Feld on X described similar symptoms: “Did anyone experience eye irritation last night? I woke up at 3 a.m. with excruciating pain and had to go to the emergency room immediately.”
Among the hundreds of people attending ApeFest, at least 15 reports of vision damage appeared on social networks. Most of the people who reported vision problems were those standing close to the main stage of the event due to direct and close exposure to these strong UV light sources.
